Friday 30th November

Friday will see a mild start to the day as a warm front passes over - temperature 10-12 degrees. It will be wet and quite windy with winds from the south-west. The cold front will go through in the early evening which means heavy rain. After this the sky will clear and wind will be lighter from the north-west.

Saturday sees us in low pressure with gusty winds from the west. There are no fronts passing over so rain is unlikely, but it will be cloudy.  Temperatures will be 10-12 degrees.

Sunday 2nd December

Sunday will be very wet and windy in the morning as a frontal system passes over. After lunch it should be dry and clear with some sunshine. Winds will be breezy and from the north-west.

Friday sees a return to high pressure and this means clear skies and light winds from the north. It will be nice and sunny during the day - around 8-10 degrees, but at night we could have a frost.

Saturday will start off cool but dry and sunny, but this will change as a frontal system moves in. Winds will get stronger and from the west. Cloud will increase and rain will come in the afternoon. Saturday night will be quite windy but skies will be clearer, so it will be cold.

Sunday should be dry but cloudy with breezy winds from the north-west. Temperatures will be 7-8 degrees.

On Friday we have a high pressure system sat right on top of us. This means that we will have clear skies and and bright sunshine. Winds will be very light. It will feel cold, around 7-9 degrees.

Saturday will see the high pressure system start to move to the south-east. As a low pressure moves in, winds will get stronger and it will be cloudy. Rain will arrive late on Saturday night. Temperatures will feel a warmer 10 degrees.

Sunday sees a low pressure over us. It will be wet and cloudy day but it will feel much warmer that it has recently, around 10-12 degrees.

Sunday will see a change from the last few weeks. Winds will be strong and from the north and so will be colder. We will have rain in the early part of the day, but it will be clear and dry later.

  This week's pic is another taken by Miss Mitchell on her summer holidays in the Orkneys. I think that this is the best picture we have ever featured on the site. A wonderful sunset with oranges, purples and blues reflected off the sea and a sky dominated by altocumulus clouds. The only thing missing is a lighthouse. Wonderful weather pic!

Friday will see a high pressure system sitting over the top of us. This will mean a calm, dry and sunny day with no wind. The sunshine will push temperatures up to the 10 degree mark, but it will feel cold at night with no cloud and temperatures will drop to 3-4 degrees.

While the high pressure sits on top of us again today, there is a cold front which will pass over us and this will bring a high chance of rain in the afternoon after a dry and sunny start to the day. Winds will again be light and because they are from the north, will feel cool. Temperatures will be 6-8 degrees.

After a cold night, we should again have a bright, clear start to the day but the presence of the weather front indicates a chance of rain around lunchtime. Winds will again be light but temperatures will be a cool 6-8 degrees.

This week's weather pic was taken by Miss Mitchell when she was on holiday in the Orkneys this summer. This is an absolutely stunning photo of dark cumulus clouds bringing rain to the Island. Notice the lighthouse still bathed in light in the background, whilst the refracted waves in the foreground are cast in shadow. Wonderful weather pic!
